It had been a long week for Kayleigh, between work and some family drama, she needed some time to relax. She had been taken back to her days as a student at Hogwarts a lot recently, and somehow that had led her here, to the Three Broomsticks. It was a common place for her to hang out during her years at Hogwarts, and sadly, she was just as alone tonight as she ever had been any other time she had come here.
She sighed as she walked through the doors, glancing around at faces only momentarily before ordering a drink and looking around for a seat, deciding on a table in the corner away from most other patrons. God, how sad was she. Not only had she come alone, but she was now setting herself up to remain alone for the remainder of the night.
Somewhere between the counter and her table she had become so lost in her own thoughts that she had forgotten to pay attention where she was going. Before she knew it she had run right into someone. She took a step back, trying to keep herself from falling, as well as keep her drink from spilling all over her and the guy she had just ran into. "Sorry." she said rather quickly, "I should have been paying more attention." she said gently before looking up at the face of the person she had run into. Oddly enough, she recognized him, though she wasn't sure whether or not that was a good thing. Draco Malfoy... He certainly wasn't who she was expecting to see; although, admittedly, she had not idea who she had expected to see. "Oh, hi." she said gently, staring up at him, her eyes showing her surprise.

Dristracted Draco wandered into the three broomsticks. His mind was racing. he was thinking about his recent mission that had taken him here into the village of Hogsmead. It was evident that he was distracted by the fact that his eyes were partially closed and his head was slightly tilted to one side as he considered the various emotions he felt. He wasn't certain why he was so uncertain about this task. It was like he hadn't done this a thousand times before. However, something felt off about this one. Something about this particular mission didn't sit well with him.
He ordered a drink, something strong he figured. Firewisky. He hated the stuff, but it would burn a hole in his mouth large enough to distract him. Sighing he ordered and paid taking the drink he headed towards an empty table in the darkened corner on the far side of the room. He wasn't walking quickly, he wasn't in a hurry at all. He wanted to take a long time here, delay the return to his home. He took a drink when he felt someone hit him. Cursing he spilled firewisky down his shirt and swore again at that turning his wand out and ready to curse whoever it was that was blubbering an apology to him.
"Yes you should!" He said in a dark voice, his eyes a piercing glare at the woman. There was something familiar about her. He reconized her as one of the girls in the year bellow his. Slytherin if his memory served him right. His glower intensified.
"Kayleigh Rea," he said in a cold voice. He had found her attractive in his seventh year, still did, but she had become an Auror, so now he really was annoyed at meeting her here of all places. Everyone knew he was a Death Eater. Glaring he held his wand in his hand and wondered how best to loose her.

Kayleigh steadied her drink, avoiding spilling much, though a small amount had spilled over the side and now dripped down the mug and onto her hands. She switched the mug into her other hand, shaking the liquid off before grabbing a napkin from a nearby empty table and cleaning it off with a sigh, annoyed with herself for having been so clumsy. She was never clumsy, she never ran into people, but clearly she was more than a little distracted right now. One way or the other, she hated being clumsy, whether or not the opinion of the other person mattered to her, she felt like an idiot for having done such a thing.
She stared up at him, unsure how to respond to his blatant annoyance. She couldn't particularly blame him for being unhappy with her running into him, but he was clearly not happy about something more than just her running into him and spilling his drink. She nodded slightly when he said her name. "Yes. I'm surprised you remember." she replied gently, not showing much of any emotion as she tried to decide how she felt about seeing him here. She had always thought he was rather cute, but she wasn't exactly fond of his choices, during or after school, or the attitude he usually held, though she wasn't entirely convinced it was anything but a front, a defense mechanism. She was well aware that he was a death eater, and he no doubt knew that she had become an auror since he had seen her last, which only complicated the current situation. "What brings you here?" she asked, only slightly curious.

He glared at her in response to her questioning his ability to remember. He was good with names, and she had a face to remember, not to mention he felt a little annoyed at having her turn into an AUROR. it angered him. It annoyed him. Worst of all it felt like a betrayal to the Slytherin house. To him. With his spare hand he brushed some of the liquid away and glowered angrily at her. He shook his hand out to get the last drops of liquid from it.
Blinking at her audacity he growled "That's none of your business" He said in a harsh tone. His words curt and underlying with anger. How dare SHE question HIM. Of all things. He should be the one questioning her. He couldn't believe she dared to question him. His eyes narrowed slightly as he surveyed her.
"I might ask you the same thing" He said before she could respond. He didn't want to hear her make some lame escuse for why SHE was here, but he also didn't want to give her the I'm an auror card chance. So he pressed her for information instead. Plus if the Auror's knew about his mission it was an important thing to report back to the dark lord. Wondering what she could possibly want from him. After all they hadn't spoken since their last year in school. Of all the times and place for her 'bump' into him. He was furious and put off by the fact that he was standing in the bar, covered in firewhisky. Of all things. It stank. He wrinkled his nose in distaste.

Kayleigh watched him, noting his every expression, his every move. It was rather amusing how she had managed to get under his skin without even trying. She had clearly ruffled his feathers and she hadn't even done anything... yet. She smiled a little at how upset he was. She was sure it had something to do with the fact that she was an auror and not a death eater.
She was very tempted to roll her eyes at him when he said none of her business, but resisted. She sighed a little and looked around a little, feeling a little weird standing here. She couldn't help but smile a little, still amused at his anger. When he redirected the question at her she shrugged a little as if it was nothing. "Well, truthfully? Nothing, really. I just needed to get away." she said, avoiding giving anymore detail of why she needed to get away, but she was telling the truth, and her eyes showed that.
She sighed a little before gesturing to the table. "Do you want to sit?" she asked, though it was a little weird since they hadn't spoke since he graduated, and they were currently pretty much on opposite sides. He was a deatheater and she was an auror, how awkward was that? She didn't wait for his answer, instead she just took a seat. Whether he joined her or not was up to him, and she wouldn't cry over it one way or another.

Draco watched as she smiled. So it was funny was it? The fact that she had made him spill his drink, that now she was asking awkward questions. Well at least she had told the truth. He'd read as much in her eyes. So be it. She hadn't told all of it. Intrigued he made his way to her table as she sat. So she had to get away from something. Maybe her job wasn't all it appeared after all. There might be hope that she would join him.
He slipped into a seat and ordered a fresh drink, his shirt by now was dry, though the smell of firewhisky remained. As the bar tender returned with a fresh mug he asked her "Feeling clumsy again? Or is it safe to drink around you?" he sneered as he let the mug sit in front of him on the table. His eyes never wavered from her face.
He wasn't patient, but he wasn't going to rush their conversation. Not now. "I came to see a friend," he replied to her earlier question. That's it just give her a little info, not a lie, well a stretch of the truth, but his eyes and expression were guarded so there was no way for her to know that. "What would you need to get away from?" he asked after a pause. Give a little expect a lot in return. That's how the saying went.

Kayleigh was a little bit surprised that he actually came to sit with her, but she wouldn't exactly complain. She took a drink from her mug before setting in on the table in front of her, her eyes focused on him. She smirked a little at his next comment and shrugged. "I think you're safe." she said before taking another drink as she watched the bartender sit the drink in front of him.
She stared at him for a long moment when he finally answered her question, her eyes searching his to find the truth in his words. She had a feeling there was a lot more to that than what he was making it out to be, but she didn't push it since she hadn't even expected him to partly tell the truth if he answered at all. She shrugged, her eyes finally leaving him and looking away when he asked what she was getting away from. "Everything." she whispered with a sigh. "My father, my life..." she added, her voice gentle, her words truthful, but that was all she told. That was more than she would usually tell, so she wasn't sure why she had even said that much. Perhaps she just needed to talk and he happened to be there.

Draco kept his eyes on her uncertain of where this would lead he took a few sips of his drink before he asked her rather curious. "What about your father Kay made you want to get away? Last I talked to you things were rocky. However, you were looking forward to seeing him again?" He used the familiar nickname he had given her while they were in school. He was fond of it. It reminded him of a time when Kay had been counted amongst his friends.
Well at least before she betrayed him. A thing he still couldn't pallet at the moment. It caused anger to rise inside of him. If he wasn't attracted to her, he'd have been long gone by now. She wasn't his type of witch and his parents would not be pleased if he told them he was seeing an Auror. For that matter the Dark Lord would be very unpleased and would either attempt to kill her or use her. Two things Draco didn't want to see happen to Kay. So rather than risk it he refrained from allowing his mind to think of her as anything but an ex-friend.
He was purely here for information he reminded himself. He couldn't get involved with this girl it was far too dangerous! He had too keep his head in the game. If he wanted to succeed at his mission and get something useful out of Kayleigh.

Kayleigh still wasn't sure how exactly she felt about all of this, about meeting him here. She wasn't sure what she wanted to tell him. She didn't typically open up to anyone she wasn't close to, anyone she didn't know she could trust, and even then it was still not an easy thing to do. Sure, she had been friends with Draco once upon a time, but that was before this mess had happened. Before he had made his choice and she had made hers. Now they were on opposite sides, so was it really a good idea to tell him anything? It may not hurt to answer this question, at least somewhat, but she couldn't allow herself to let anything slip that might give him something to use against her.
She hesitated before she said a word. "Things only got worse since we last talked, Draco. He is still bitter, most of the time he is cold and emotionless, at least towards me. But I honestly preferred it when that was all he was. Now he just gets angry, sometimes even violent. I just couldn't take it anymore, I couldn't keep walking by him every day pretending everything is okay. Nothing is okay. Nothing has been okay for a very long time." she said, looking away to hide the hint of sadness in her eyes. "So, I made it very clear to him what I thought of him, and I left. It is what it is." she said with a gentle voice, shrugging when she finished. "Honestly, I wouldn't shed a tear if I never saw that man again." she added with a sigh as her eyes finally met his again.
To keep herself from saying anything else Kayleigh took a drink and straightened up a little in her seat. She had come here tonight to be alone, not to spill her whole life story to a Death eater. She had to remind herself again what he was, that he was no longer that kid she had known, he wasn't her friend anymore, whether she liked that or not. He was the enemy. She couldn't let herself forget that. She couldn't let herself think of him as she had before. Too much had changed since then.

Her words were strange to Draco. he couldn't imagine not being close to his father. Sure his father was harsh sometimes, but Draco knew his father loved him. He held that thought quite close to his heart. Draco had made all his choices based on that. His father was proud of him and that is what Draco sought was the pride of his father. After all he was his father's son.
Therefore as he watched her and listened to her words he wondered how she could have done that. Gone against her father. How her father could have been cruel and hurtful towards her. Well no matter. Draco had to remember he wasn't her friend anymore. He had not come here to become her friend. Only to get a drink before he continued his mission. Thus he watched as she spoke. He knew her words were calculated and reserved. No matter.
Leaning back he said softly "Where do you life now?" Yah great Draco. Just pursue a completely different question. It had not been the one he had intended on asking. Somehow his mind was speaking before he could think things through. With a quick sigh he waited for her response.

Kayleigh watched him as he watched her. She still wasn't sure why she had told him what she had, though she hadn't told him anything that could be used against her, really. Only that her father couldn't be used against him. She watched him closely, her eyes searching his as she waited for any kind of response from him, taking a sip of her drink.
When he asked where she lived, she hesitated, trying to decide why he was asking such a question. Did he really care? Was he just asking for no apparent reason? Or was there some other reason... She couldn't be sure. She gave a slight shrug before taking another drink. "I live in a small apartment in London. It's not much, but it's something." she said, her eyes focused on her drink rather than on him. She was sure not to include any details beyond enough to satisfy his curiosity unless she had a reason to, or at least knew why he was asking. "Why do you ask?" she asked gently, leaning back a little in her seat.
After a long moment of staring at her mug she finally looked back up at him. "What about you? Do you still live with your father?" she asked curiously, unsure why it mattered, but she was rather curious.

Draco didn't know how to answer her first question. Well she had a place. Uncertain why he cared he refrained from commenting on that statement. He himself still lived in the mannor. Why wouldn't he? He gazed at her. Did he really care. In a way he realized he did. However he wasn't certain why. That's what scared him. how could he care. Why did he care. On the other hand he really didn't care. Why should he. What did he have to care about? She had left him. She had known all along he was going to be a Death Eater he'd been one in his sixth year after all. So much for her allegiance. maybe just maybe. No he couldn't go there.
Taken aback he took a drink of his liquor before he replied calmly in cold voice. "yes I still live in the mannor house, why?" he asked automatically getting defensive. Why was that he wondered? He was getting taken aback a lot by this girl. She was throwing him off his game and he didn't like that in the least. He wondered if he should leave now. before things got even more complicated.

Kayleigh stared across at him, curious if he was going to answer her first question, though she was sure he wouldn't.Perhaps he didn't even know why he had asked. But one way or the other, she was a little curious. "You don't have to answer, if you don't want to." she finally said. She wanted an answer, but she wouldn't push it, and she wanted him to know that she wasn't interrogating him. She was simply curious as to why he cared, if he cared at all, or if it was just a random question he had come up with. Either way, it didn't matter that much.
She wasn't surprised that he still lived with his father. She had suspected as much. Before she answered his question she took another sip of her drink, her eyes never leaving his as she did. She wasn't honestly sure. Maybe she was just asking because he had asked her, or maybe she was curious. "No need to get all defensive. I was just curious. Making conversation, I guess? I don't know..." she replied gently, half wishing she hadn't just admitted that. She really wasn't sure why she cared, if she cared. She had to remind herself again that she wasn't here to rekindle their friendship or anything of the sort. Even if she did want that somewhere inside herself, it was an idea she couldn't entertain. He was her enemy now, even if she wished it weren't so.

His eyes narrowed. he didn't have an answer and he wasn't even sure himself if he wanted to answer her. So instead he simply took another sip of his drink and waited for her to continue acting as if he hadn't heard her words. With a soft sigh he realized he really was being defensive and somehow she made him feel bad for it. Which wasn't like him. His eyes narrowed further and his frown deepened.
"I hadn't thought of that," he admitted with a tired sigh. "Someone not having an exterior motive for a question is strange these days." he continued. "What brings you to Hogsmeade?" he asked again. Wondering if this time she would give him a proper answer. Seeing as they had both had a significant amount of alcohol by now. He let the smile return to his lips as his eyes caught hers. She really was beautiful.

Kayleigh noted that he once again didn't answer her question. This time, however, he hadn't even said a word, he just acted as if she hadn't said a word. She sighed just a little, but moved on, not letting it hurt her feelings, considering it wasn't too unlike him, nor was it unexpected for him to do something like this. Rather than pursue the topic further, she stared down into her drink for a long moment before taking another sip and letting her eyes drift back up to meet his.
When Draco said that he hadn't thought of that, she actually didn't doubt his answer for once. "It's fine. I understand." she replied gently. It made sense, and she did understand the feeling. Hell, she felt the same way sometimes. It seemed like nowadays you couldn't trust anyone, even more so than before. Everyone had some kind of ulterior motive. Especially when you were in the position she was, or the one he was in. Her eyes peered into his when he repeated his earlier question about why she was here, debating on what to say. "I was telling the truth before, Draco." she finally replied. "But, if you must know, I also came to see my sister." She said with a sigh, her eyes drifting down to stare into her glass. "I haven't seen her since I left, and considering the current situation in the school, and her relation to me.... I just had to make sure she was okay." she finished before her eyes once again met his. "Now you know my reason, what's yours?" she asked in a gentle voice, her voice holding a tone of curiosity, despite the fact that she was fairly sure he wouldn't give her as honest an answer as she had given him.
