Vanessa is someone who likes to be around people, she isnt a fan of being alone for any extended period of time, a few hours is fine but not days on end. She enjoys meeting new people and making new friends, she is loyal and trustworthy, and once you have become friends she will have your back no matter what. She is very caring, though she can be pretty stubborn and have a bit of a temper, something she possibly got from her father.

She is very gentle, which is obvious with how she is with Nurse Amelia's daughter Jennifer. She does what she can to be useful and helpful to her friends, and family. She is a big book worm and enjoys working hard in her classes, she works hard to get good grades and keep her uncle proud, part of her does it because she hopes her Father will be proud of her and come back but she knows that is very unlikely. She still harbors hard feelings towards her Father since he hsn't bothered to see or talk to her since handing her over to his brother, but she does miss him at times.

A one night stand, that was what lead to the birth of Vanessa Amilia Van Holsen, her Mother Melanie was nineteen at the time, and her Father Garrison was twenty-two. Both of her parents had been followers of Voldemort, but continuing on. Nine months after Melanie and Garrison had hooked up; Melanie gave birth to a beautiful little girl and named her Vanessa. At the time she only knew Garrisons first name and not his last, so she gave her daughter her last name and began the search. It took her a year and a half but she finally tracked him down and located his address. One evening she packed up her daughter and went to go meet him and introduce him to his daughter.

Melanie had expected the worst, they’d been a one night stand that had resulted in the one thing Melanie cared about extremely. She was so terrified that Garrison would reject her daughter, what she didn’t anticipate was that he would see her and fall in love with their daughter instantly. The first few years were a little rough between them both, they were together they broke up, but they lived under the same roof for Vanessa’s sake. When they had meetings with the other Death Eaters they would bring Vanessa along, she would play in another room as she got older.

One of the other Death Eaters had a son, Isaac. There were three young children among them and they always wound up playing in another room while the adults had their meeting. One night, Isaac shoved Vanessa into the closet and locked the doors so she couldn’t get out. She banged on the door and screamed and cried but he refused to open it, she got so upset that she screamed a final time and blew the door clean off the hinges, her parents and the other Death Eaters rushed into the room to see what had happened. After that night they simply left her at home checking in on her every so often using magic to make sure she was okay, she was roughly eight years old when this happened.

When she was eleven she got her letter to Hogwarts, she’d been so excited to go. She was sorted into ------- and made many friends. In her third year was when things went wrong, the battle happened. Her parents were both Death Eaters, and they both insisted that she would follow in their footsteps, her Grandfather and Grandmother said the same thing, but in her heart she knew that wasn’t what she wanted for herself, but she kept her mouth shut and smiled and nodded. She knew about her Uncle and wished she could go with him and get away from this, but she did love her parents so she just kept her mouth shut. Unfortunately during the battle her Grandmother and her Mother lost their lives, which put her Father into a bad state, he couldn’t even look at Vanessa. This went on for a few months before her Uncle finally took her in, since moving in with her Uncle she has been much happier, and possibly living a much better life than she would of if she had stayed with her father. She is now going into her fifth year at Hogwarts, and is looking forward to it!
