The lake at sunset was one of the best places to be, Katherine would go down there to clear her head and enjoy some time alone. It had been almost a week since her run in with the Slytherin, raising her hand to the back of her head the skin was all healed over thanks to Nurse Amelia, but the bump still remained. Sighing she picked up a handful of stones and began tossing them in, even though she didn’t want to anger the squid she didn’t quite care she had a lot on her mind and she just wanted to sit here for however long it took to think and just relax. She noticed a larger rock nearby and moved to sit on it continuing to throw the stones.
”I feel a kind of fear, when I don’t have you near.” she sang softly to herself, the song for some reason had been caught in her head recently and she would randomly start singing it at random times. She hopped off the rock for a moment to gather a few more stones, collecting a few skipping stones in the process. She sat there for awhile longer humming to herself. She and Jerry had recently come out as a couple, she enjoyed being with him, she enjoyed his company and he watched out for her, after all he had saved her from the Slytherin boy.
The snap of a twig nearby had her turning her head, it wasn’t uncommon for other students to be out at this time. ”Whose there?” she called out, for all she knew Jerry and the rest of her friends had followed her out here.

Usually about once a week Alexander could be found at the shore of the Black Lake. He walked along the same familiar stretch and picked up shells. The same way he used to last year when his ex girlfriend, Melanie still attended Hogwarts. They would come out here practically every night and spend their time alone. Now... he was alone in this escapade. It had been shortly after he returned to school that he received an owl saying that Melanie had moved on, and their daughter was with her. Later letters revealed how truly in love she felt she was with this new man and now she was wanting to move on and start her life over. He instantly agreed to take their daughter once he graduated from Hogwarts.
He thought about the new man in her life. The man whom he had found out she had cheated with him over during the winter vacation back from Hogwarts during his sixth year. He thought of the pain, knowing now what he hadn't know then he probably wouldn't have been quite as willing to love and accept his daughter. And at the same time, knowing he still had her out of all the hell in his life... well it brought a smile to his face. Back in his dorms in his trunk he had an envelope filled with pictures of his beautiful daughter. She was still so little and she made him so happy that he could hardly handle the joy that filled his heart. In his pocket was one of his favorite pictures. It was one where she was asleep in his arms at the hospital. And it was the happiest day of his life.
To be truthful he couldn't wait to go back to London and see his darling child again. There was a sound of a crunch beneath his feet and suddenly he was acutely aware of a voice echoing through his mind. A familiar voice, but he couldn't quite place it. As he carefully called out, "Alexander Raves." he placed it. Katherine Thithe. He contemplated turning and leaving but realized he had all ready answered her. Now it would just be rude if he left. With a sigh he stepped toward the shore and looked at her. "Don't mean to disturb you. Just... here to look for shells."

Sunset was really one of her favorite times of the day, everything looked magical and full of life. The setting sun cast so many colors and everything blended together, it was truly beautiful. The stars would be out soon too as well, and the moon, she looked forward to it. Katherine was a loud young woman, she was opinionated and had a lot to say. Without really thinking about it she reached to the back of her head again feeling the bump it was still sore and a little bruised. She had, had a few other run ins with the guy who had hurt her, he was knocking her books down in the hall ways and grabbing her pushing her against the walls.
Sighing she began to twist the ring her Father had sent her for her birthday, she didn’t much care for it, but it did serve as a reminder that he had at least remembered it. She glanced down at the plain silver band, ”He could of gotten me something prettier.” she said a soft smile coming to her lips. The snap of a twig didn’t make her nervous or uncomfortable she had her wand and she wasn’t afraid to use it, but then the Slytherin boy who kept coming after her came to mind and she instantly jumped to her feet and put her hand near her back pocket.
”Alexander Raves. Don’t mean to disturb you. Just… here to look for shells.”
Katherine watched him quietly as he emerged from the trees, she lowered her hand to her side and looked around wanting to be sure no one else was with him. ”Sorry, I was afraid there was someone else with you.” she explained crossing her arms. A few of the bruises the guy had left showed but she paid no mind, she had gotten used to having them so she’d learned to ignore them. ”Lovely time to go looking for shells, no one here to get in the way or see what it is you are doing.” she commented noticing a pretty soft pink one by her foot. She bent down to pick it up, wiping some of the dirt off on her pants she moved towards him and held it out. ”These for your girlfriend or something?” she asked, not in a judging sort of way, more of a curious way.

Alexander cast a glance toward the sky as he walked from the covering. He was aware her wand was out, but it had lowered to her side as if she suddenly felt he was alone. When she commented about how she thought he would have someone with him, he cocked his brow. "Nah, I like to come out here alone. Most people I hang out with would judge me a little too harshly on heading out to pick up a bunch of shells." He smirked a little at the thought but looked at her as she stooped to pick one up. It was a pretty shell he noted, a soft pink. Kayla would really like it. When she offered it to him, he smiled slightly but shook his head. "Nah, you keep it. It was you're find."
Her question threw him back into his thoughts for several moments and he couldn't believe how hard it hit him. He missed Melanie. He thought she was going to be his last. But she moved on, cheated on him and then left him for another man. Now she was raising their daughter and the beautiful girl was his world. He thought about her for a moment and a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips. "Actually, no. For my daughter, Kayla." He said. Alex was aware how most people his age would probably keep a child as a secret. But he flaunted it. She was his world and the idea of hiding that from anyone seemed like it would be a terrible idea. After all, what was to hide? She was his family.
Raves walked past Kat, casting her a faint smile. She was all right when she wasn't around her boy toy. When he was around, he felt the need to kill someone, simply because how he managed to get such a beautiful woman was beyond him. As he approached the lake, his eyes remained on the ground now, ignore the sunset. A soft orange shell stuck out just beneath the water and he reached down, plucking the orange shell from it's home. He took a moment to swish it around in the water so the shell would be clean and then flicked the water droplets off of it. The droplets flung and fell into the water causing ripples. He cast a glance back toward Kat. "What about you, babe? Why are you here?"

”Nah, I like to come out here alone. Most people I hang out with would judge me a little too harshly on heading out to pick up a bunch of shells. Nah, you keep it. It was you’re find.”
Katherine watched him curiously for a moment, lately she was always on guard around Slytherin’s, probably because she wasn’t having the best time with one or two of them, glancing at her bruises a frown came to her face. She wasn’t going to lie she liked the sound of her voice, he didn’t seem scary or intimidating, at least not right now. ”I don’t think there is anything wrong with that, especially if you are getting them for someone else.” she replied smiling softly. She thought the shell was beautiful, she rarely saw nice ones like this smiling she handed it to him, her smile faltered as he turned her down. ”Well I insist that you take it.” she laughed she grabbed his hand and placed the shell in it and closed his fingers around it, then looked up at him and smiled. ”Consider it a friendly gift.” she explained smiling again.
”Actually, no. For my daughter, Kayla.”
She watched him silently for a moment, she couldn’t get rid of the feeling that she had certainly said the wrong thing to him and she felt bad about it. ”Sorry I didn’t mean to upset you.” she apologized quickly. Unless she was intentionally trying to hurt someone she hated knowing she had upset someone, especially when she had only meant to ask what she believed was an innocent question. Her eyebrows shot up as he mentioned having a daughter, she didn’t know there were any students at Hogwarts who had children of their own, but a warm smile came to her lips anyway. ”Such a beautiful name.” she told him. She found it admirable that he wasn’t ashamed of the truth and he would admit to being a father so easily. ”I think it’s wonderful that you would just admit to being a Father. How old is she?” she asked. Her mind drifted for a moment, if he had a child then surely that meant he was in a relationship, didn’t it?
”What about you, babe? Why are you here?”
She smiled as she watched him pick up another shell, it was a beautiful orange color and it reminded her of the sunset. ”Gorgeous. I am sure Kayla would love it. Are you planning to make something out of these shells?” she commented watching as he washed the shell. Her cheeks flushed a little as he called her babe, she can’t remember when she’d ever been called that, she probably had but just couldn’t remember, was it bad to admit she kind of liked it? ”The lake at sunset is one of the best places to go when you need a break.” she replied softly looking up at the sky once more. She looked down at him once more, she knew he was one of the guys that bullied Jerry, but she wasn’t too clear on his reasons behind it. ”So… what’s your problem with Jerry?” she asked casually her eyes never leaving him.

Alex stood near Kat, looking at her with a small smile touching his face. He looked her over once and suddenly he couldn't help but stare at her arms. There, against her pale white skin were dark black and blue splotches. He blinked several times and bit his lip hard, attempting to keep a lid on what was going through his head. Was Jerry doing this? Was that the case? If it was... he trembled a moment with anger but forced himself to stop. He dragged his eyes away from her arms and instead stared at the lake behind her now. When she insisted on him taking the shell and even took a moment to reach for his hand and fold it between his fingers, he looked at her again in silence. He offered her a small smile, finally accepting it and depositing it into his pocket.
"Thanks." He said softly. He offered a faint smile and then continued on his way closer to the lake. He listened to her as she spoke, almost dismissing the fact that he had a daughter. Almost. "I'm not upset. If it did upset me, well I really need to get my priorities straight." He said with a smirk before glancing toward the little little shell he had scooped up in his hand. He glanced toward her and flashed a smile. His favorite thing in this world was Kayla. He could talk about her all day given the chance. "Of course I would admit to it. She's my child. What kind of father would I be if I pretended she didn't exist." his lips curled upward into a smile again and he grinned yet again. He didn't know how much happier he could be.
"She is six months old." He added, offering another smile. Though he felt a pang of sadness, thinking about how she was all ready half a year old and how much of her life he had all ready missed. He blinked for a moment and then closed his eyes, thinking what to say. When she responded to his question, he found a smile and nodded in agreement. "Definitely. Melanie and I used to come down here all the time." Another pang into his heart. He sighed for a moment before looking down. How could he bring her up? What an idiot. He stepped through the water, searching for more shells. "You're boy toy? He's... less than a desirable match for you, don't you think?"

Katherine was beginning to wish she had brought a sweater with her, she had anticipated being alone so she hadn’t brought anything to hide her arms, Jerry had seen them once or twice, but he hadn’t seen her arms as bad as they were now. Catching Alex staring at them she looked away. ”No wonder I am scared of Slytherins huh.” she attempted to joke about it, but her voice cracked. She finally shrugged and looked up at the stars that were beginning to show, the sun had almost completely set on the horizon but the beautiful colors still remained, a soft smile touched her lips. She pretty much forced him to accept the shell and she returned his smile. ”I hope she likes it.” she laughed the smile remaining. Katherine could be friendly and nice when she wanted to be, it was when you messed with the people she cared about where she got a little iffy.
Thanks. I’m not upset. If it did upset me, well I really need to get my priorities straight. Of course I would admit to it. She’s my child. What kind of Father would I be if I pretended she didn’t exist.”
She watched as he moved to the lake, she couldn’t help but stare she just found him interesting. She frowned slightly, she wasn’t supposed to find other guys interesting she was with Jerry and to make this situation even more complicated she knew about Alex beating up and picking on her boyfriend, that complicated things greatly. ”Don’t even worry about it. Kids are great and I would hate to see such a beautiful shell go to waste just sitting here.” she replied smiling. She continued to study him for a moment, again wishing for her sweater or her jacket, she was scared he would look at her arms again and she really didn’t know how to explain what had happened, but why would he care it had been someone from his house who had done it, maybe he just wouldn’t care. She chuckled when he brought up getting his priorities straight, ”Well it’s nice to know that you know what comes first.” she commented. He smiled, she could see how happy he was about his daughter, she smiled as he spoke. ”She is a very lucky girl to have a Father like you.” she said softly, studying him once more.
”She is six months old. Definitely, Melanie and I used to come down here all the time. You’re boy toy? He’s…. less than a desirable match for you, don’t you think?”
Kat smiled, six months old, she picked up on the slight sadness though, something in his eyes. ”You must miss her horribly.” she said offering a sympathetic smile. She raised her eyebrows at the mention of a Melanie, the name rang a bell but she couldn’t place a face. ”I think I pranked a Melanie before… thought she was going to murder me.” she admitted sheepishly. She hoped off her stone and followed him near the water, looking for more pretty shells, she was waiting for him to answer her, she just wanted to know if it was a blood thing or if it was something else, though the feeling in the pit of her stomach told her it had nothing to do with blood status. ”Don’t call him my boy toy.” she replied quickly glancing at him, then using her index finger she poked the surface of the water and watched as the water rippled from her touch. She stood straight and look at him, confusion on her face. ”What is that supposed to mean?” she asked searching him for some sort of hint. ”There is nothing wrong with Jerry, he is a good guy.” she defended her boyfriend.
