Jerry entered the library and made a beeline for a table he had once thought of as 'his table', since he had spent a majority of his time sitting there in his first to third year of Hogwarts. He pulled out a few books from his bag and opened them, staring down at the pages although he wasn't actually reading them. Jerry was surprised with himself for not wanting to something, anything else during his free time,, but he couldn't seem to muster the excitement that he normally felt at the prospect of doing anything other than studying, nor did he want to be around his schoolmates. A bit earlier, they went (in his opinion) too far with some of the jokes regarding certain preferences of his. Jerry knew they didn't mean anything by it, but that didn't mean that he was impervius to the stings.
Jerry looked at the oak table and found it ironic that for three years he sat alone at this table, wishing he had someone to talk to, a friend of some sort, and now that he finally had friends, he was hiding away from the world. Jerry wasn't quite sure what was wrong with him, other than he felt lonely and out of place, which was quite ridiculous because even though some of his friends were no longer such, there were still plenty of people who found his company adequate. Girls, and some guys even, that usually flanked him didn't interest him as much as in the last two years. Jerry vowed that he would be different this year, that he would care more about the relationships than he did before.
He glanced down at his book, reading a paragraph before his attention faltered and he instead looked towards the nearby window. Jerry felt like he really should force himself to read and study a bit, he had always been ahead of scheduled lessons in the first few years, but throughout time, studying lost all appeal. However, his dedication to the studies had to be a bit more this year. He'd hate to fall behind, especially with NEWTS coming up at the end of the term. "Focus, Jerry, focus." he whispered to himself, which gave him the motivation to read just one more sentence before he was lost in his thoughts once more.

Katherine had slept in, she had grabbed some rolls from dinner the night before and put them in her bag, it was the weekend and she had planned on sleeping in. Yawning she stretched and grabbed her bag pulling out the three rolls and taking a bite out of one. She looked around the dorm, of course there were no other girls here, most of them would be off flirting with the boys or just hanging out with one another. Yawning again she slowly stood up taking another bite she grabbed her wand and went to look in the mirror. Using her wand she quickly waved it over her head causing her hair to begin braiding itself, and a few different colors to appear on some strands of hair, the end result was crazy but she loved it. She ran back and grabbed a pair of jeans and a top then slipped on her flats. Grabbing the second roll she threw her bag over her shoulder and bolted out of the dorm and moved quickly through the common room and out to the hall, she needed to get her essay for Monday done.
The library wasn’t as busy as it usually was, then again it was only Saturday, she was sure Sunday would be crazy busy hence wanting to get some studying done today. Shrugging she continued inside and began walking back to where she usually sat, along the way she was grabbing books she know would be useful in helping her, as she turned a corner she tripped over a bag and landed on her knees. “What the hell…” she muttered under her breath looking up she saw a Slytherin boy who just glared at her she stuck her tongue out at him, got up and began to walk away when he grabbed her arm. “Where you going.. you owe me for kicking my bag.” glaring at him she yanked her arm out of his grasp. “Dream on loser.” She replied and tried to walk away again, he grabbed her again however and slammed her against the book shelf.
It wasn’t until she began struggling where she knew she was in trouble, he was much bigger than her and he obviously had a lot more upper strength than she did. “Help!” she called out quickly, but he slammed his hand against her mouth causing her to knock her head against the shelf a lot harder than was okay. Her head began to ache and she felt dizzy, she could feel something warm going down her neck and she knew something had been hurt. ‘Help… someone please…’ she thought to herself.

Jerry lifted his head up sharply when he thought he heard some commotion going on in the otherwise quiet library. Small grunts and muffled yells were coming from somewhere near to him. Jerry realized that two outcomes were possible if he went to investigate. Either he helped someone who was in trouble or Jerry would interupt a couple during a private, making out moment. He sighed and stood up, looking sadly at the textbook that was lying on the table. There was another bang and Jerry knew that unless something far more freakier was going on, the person whose body part just had a close encounter with hard wood, wasn't doing that good.
The seventh year neared the shelf were the noises were coming from and called out, just in case. "If you're in various state of undress, please stop and make yourself presentable. I'm coming to cheeeeck," he sang with a high pitched voice and stepped to a sight that immediately made his blood boiled. Jerry despised bullies, but he really loathed those that picked on girls. Especially those who knew that the gentler gender couldn't fight against them. Jerry hurried to the struggling couple and tried to tore the guy away from his housemate. "Run, before I borrow a beater's bat and bash your head in," Jerry snarled and moved to the Gryffindor girl. He heard the scuffle of feet and saw the boy getting away with a corner of his eyes. He turned back to the girl and saw it was a familiar person after all. "In trouble again, Katherine?" Jery tried to lighten the mood with slight teasing and held her head, inspecting for any possible wounds. There was something sticky and Jerry spied a wound, which bled slightly. "You should get that checked out. Might get infected or something," Jerry murmured quietly, glaring into the direction where the Slytherin boy took off to.

Katherine had never felt this way in her life, sure she was a bit rebellious and stood up to the Slytherins when they were being unfair but in no way had she been prepared for this. “Let go of me you ridiculous snake!” she demanded. She bit down on his hand after he covered her mouth causing him to slam her head against the shelf again, she could almost feel the skin tearing at that point. Tears burned her eyes but there was no way in hell she would let this scumbag see her cry. This was the problem with their being almost nobody in the library, no one was around to help her and she would just have to wait till he was done hurting her to be free to carry on her way. ”Imagine what I could do to a little Gryffindor like you… so pathetic and weak. Hell I could have my way with you if I wanted… to bad you’re not in a skirt.”
her eyes widened and she began kicking her legs, trying to get him off of her so she could run but its true she was weaker than he was, she didn’t stand a chance. “If you’re in various state of undress, please stop and make yourself presentable. I’m coming to cheeeeeck.”Katherine perked up, she recognized that voice. She kept struggling against the Slytherin who held her, hoping it really was Jerry coming around the bookshelf. When he came around a huge wave of relief coursed through her. She fell as Jerry grabbed the Slytherin landing on her behind, instantly she pressed herself closer to the bookshelf wishing she were invisible. Watching the Slytherin run off she looked up at Jerry and gave him a huge smile. “You know, I could of handled him.” She teased. “Thanks though.” She reached her hand behind her head and felt a large bump, and she could still feel the warm liquid running down her neck, thinking about it gave her shivers. Bringing her hand away from her head she looked up at him again a small smile still on her lips, but she couldn’t help the few tears that slipped away from her eyes, she hated how much worse things were getting around here, can’t even go to the library without fearing your life. “In trouble again, Katherine? You should get that checked ou. Might get infected or something.”“Well if I don’t get myself into trouble you don’t show up Jer.” She replied with a flirty smile. They had been friends since last year, and she did have a bit of a crush on him but she tried not to act on it, he had a reputation for having flings and she didn’t want to throw away a good friendship for a short romance. “I tripped over his bag and fell, and he got mad when I didn’t apologize for kicking his bag it was dumb.” she stood up feeling a little dizzy and fell back down to a sitting position her head spinning. ”I will just sit here for a little bit.” she said distantly. She was sort of feeling tired, and giving her head a little shake didn’t help. ”Can you help me get to the hospital wing?” she asked softly. [/blockquote] Outfit;; Here

'Right, I saw how you 'handled' him,' Jerry made air quotations with his hands, small smile resting on his lips. 'Quite well really, I think you ought to be a poster girl for women's self defense,' he joked and offered his clasamate a hand, so she could stand up. 'It's no problem really, glad to be of help,' the seventh year softly smiled. His mirth diminished when he thought about his own lacerations with bullies, who were admittedly mostly from Slytherin. 'What did you do to the guy?' Jerry asked Katherine, cocking his head to the side in curiosity, unknowingly imitating a puppy. Though to be honest, it didn't take a lot to set of bullies on the rampage, so the reason could be simply that Katherine existed. As fa r as he knew, Katherine was a pureblood, so perhaps the reason was that she was in Gryffindor? Which seemed stupid, because all houses were the same to Jerry. All had their bad seeds and good people.
Jerry tutted at Katherine and dug in his pockets for a handkerchief. It was made especially for him, a gift from his mother for his seventeenth birthday. It was dark blue and embroidered with gold, with Jerry's initials in the top left corner. Jerry gently mopped some of the tears and then put his handkerchief in Katherine's hand. 'Here, he softly said. 'It'll do you more good than me at the moment.' The times were indeed strange. It seemed that no place at Hogwarts was safe. That particular fact saddened Jerry a lot, because he thought of Hogwarts as his home.
'Ah, so that was your reason, eh?' Jerry grinned and gently bumped their shoulders together. 'A pretty lady like yourself needs only to call my name and I'll come running,' he winked, before reminding himself of his promise that he made during the summer. Besides, Jerry knew that in the society that was ruling now, he might as well look for other halfbloods. He doubted that someone with a tainted blood as himself would be permitted to marry a pureblood. That lowered his chances alarmingly. 'So that's what you did to the lad,' he shook his head, but not at Katherine's actions. The Gryffindor couldn't believe that a small accident like that could be the reason to set someone off that much. 'Whoa there Kath,' Jerry murmured when his friend wanted to stand up, but stumbled back on her backside. He lowered himself down and put his hand around her hips, and with the other, he gripped her hand tightly. 'Let's get you up nice and slowly,' Jerry said and got up, but he minded Katherine and her injuries. 'I don't know much medicine, but you might have a concussion,' he explained, trying to remember what his mother said about injuries like that. Jerry slowly started to make his way toward the exit, swishing his wand to his and Kath's stuff, making them float behind the pair.

“Right, I saw how you ‘handled’ him. Quite well really, I think you ought to be a poster girl for women’s self defense. It’s no problem really, glad to be of help. What did you do to the guy?”
Katherine couldn’t help but find it extremely adorable as he cocked his head, seemed as cute as a puppy. Her cheeks grew warm thinking about it and she had to look away for a moment before remembering that he had asked what she had done to him. ”Nothing besides being a Pureblooded Neutral who wants no part in their beliefs.” she muttered hate filling her voice. She was usually the tough girl, protecting her friends and doing what was right, this was the first time she’d ever been well attacked for something she herself was. ”You know I can usually easily fight Slytherin’s off… maybe I just freaked because he was attacking ME and not someone I care about…” she muttered. She still felt shaken, she did not enjoy that one bit, and the worst part had been she was unable to reach her wand and do anything, he’d made her feel helpless which certainly wouldn’t do. ”I’ll get him for that…” she muttered again venom in her voice, she sure as hell was going to get her payback.
”Here. It’ll do you more good than me at the moment.”
Smiling she accepted the handkerchief gratefull. ”You really are a wonderful friend.” she said softly dabbing at her eyes. She took a moment to study it, it was quite lovely. ”Who gave you this, it’s beautiful.” she asked a light smile on her lips. Sighing she shook her head slowly, trying to get rid of the fuzzy feeling. ”Ridiculous… even if you have no side or no imput on what’s going on they don’t hesitate to attack you.” she sighed again her head beginning to throb.
”Ah, so that was your reason, eh? A pretty lady like yourself needs only to call my name and I’ll come running. So that’s what you did to the lad, Whoa there Kath, Let’s get you up nice and slowly, I don’t know much medicine, but you might have a concussion.”
Laughing she nudged Jerry’s arm, she enjoyed hanging around him and she had for a while now, he was good company. She cared about all of her friends Jerry included, and there had been a time or two where she had seen him being picked on and after making sure he was okay she’d gone off with a smile to locate who had picked on him and give them a piece of their own medicine. She had a sinking suspicion that before too long she was going to be getting into a lot more trouble, and there would be more cases like today happening to her. ”Well it’s good to know I can always count on you.” she replied resting her head against his shoulder. ”Jerry I feel a little sleepy.” she added softly. Shrugging she didn’t quite understand what he was saying, something about medicine and it giving her a concussion… no that wasn’t quite right. ”Thanks Jer..” she smiled softly putting her weight on him as they walked out.

Jerry tutted slowly at Kath, when she told him that she had done nothing. "Well, let's say I know how you feel. Just existing and be picked on. A piece of advice though. Pick a side soon. With all this nonsense going on, it'll be impossible to exist without pledging allegiance to the Light or Dark side," Jerry murmured, thinking that he should heed his own advice that he was giving currently. While he was neutral, he didn't think that either side cared much for him. So he preferred to be on the Grey side, as the Gryffindor called it, stubbornly keeping his distance from any clashing. Jerry had enough troubles on his own.
"I know you can Kath," Jerry chuckled when she told him that she could fight the Slytherins off. "I recall a certain episode last year with frog spawn in Slytherin locker room?" he mused. Truthfully, he had no idea if it was Katherine who did it, but it sounded like something he and his friends would do. Jerry was unfortunately in the Hospital Wing that way after getting a nasty hit with a bludger in the Slytherin versus Gryffindor match, so he couldn't be part of any pranks that were going on at that time. A regrettable fact. "If you want, I can help you get him. I have no sympathy for bullies, especially those that pick on women. I think a nasty prank or two are in order Kath, don't you think so?" Jerry innocently asked, but his friend was sure to see through his innocent facade to spy his mischievous personality.
"Well, I'm only repaying the favour Kath," Jerry blushed lightly when she said that he was a good friend. "You've been a great friend to me, so...yeah.." he scratched his head, when he had nothing else to say. Jerry was glad for the change of subject, though it was hardly for the better. Giving a small smile, the Gryffindor explained. "My mother gave it to me when I turned seventeen. While purebloods usually give a watch, well, my mother is a muggle, so she thought she'd give me this. It was very nice of her and Thomas," Jerry lips tightened at the mention of his step-father.
"Whoa there girl, don't fall asleep on me, it's dangerous with concussions," Jerry gently shook Katherine when she started to doze off. "Let's go and see nurse Amelia, okay?" he smiled and led the girl to the Hospital Wing.

”Well, lets say I know how you feel. Just existing and be picked on. A piece of advice though. Pick a side soon. With all this nonsense going on, it’ll be impossible to exist without pledging allegiance to the Light or Dark side.”
Katherine frowned, she knew he had a good point, but she didn’t want to pick a side, whether she stayed neutral or picked nothing was going to change. ”It’s not worth picking a side Jerry no matter what I will get picked on. I am more of a Light person you see, and things will only get a lot worse if I come out with that. For now the safest option is Neutral… and besides that just caught me off guard it’s not like it will ever happen again.” she explained. She knew he had a history of being picked on, he was a half-blood and while she saw nothing wrong with that a lot of other Witches and Wizards did see a problem with that and they would do anything to get rid of him. ”You know things might get easier on you as well if you were to pick a side…” she added softly looking at him, concern and fear bundled up in her eyes, she worried about what could happen to him, and she hoped nothing serious ever would, enough Half-bloods had gone missing from the school she couldn’t bear to see him added to the list.
”I know you can Kath, I recall a certain episode last year with a frog spawn in Slytherin locker room? If you want, I can help you get him. I have no sympathy for bullies, especially those that pick on women. I think a nasty prank or two are in order Kath, don’t you think so?”
Her cheeks went bright red as he mentioned the frog spawn incident, she had no idea he even knew about that, a lot of it had been pay back for him and a few other of her friends getting bullied. Shrugging she acted as though she knew nothing about it, but the obvious blush on her cheeks probably stated otherwise. ”Wish I had of been smart enough to think of that…” she lied looking away hoping he’d believe her. ”I would love your help Jerry, we’ve always made a great team.” she replied enthusiastically. She found herself smiling as he continued speaking, she really did enjoy having him around, and lately she’d been noticing some extra… feelings whenever he was around her, a few of the girls had picked up on it and been trying to get her to confess she had some form of feeligns for him but she never had. Studying him for a moment, she knew he used to have a habit of only flings and never being in serious relationships… she kind of wondered if she would be able to change that… she felt her cheeks grow warm again as she thought about it and she had to look away.
”Well, I am only repaying the favour Kath, You’ve been a great friend to me so yeah. My Mother gave it to me when I turned seventeen. While purebloods usually give a watch, well, my Mother is a muggle, so she thought she’d give me this. It was very nice of her and Thomas.”
Smiling, she moved a little closer to him and gave him a small kiss on the cheek. ”I will always remember your friendship no matter what happens in this crazy world.” she replied softly before changing the subject. ”You’re Mother has great taste, and to be honest I believe this is much better than some stupid watch.” she replied sincerely a smile remaining. Though her head ache and things felt a little fuzzy she was enjoying just sitting here talking to him, he was great company and she felt much safer having him close. ”It must be wonderful to have a Mother give you such a loving gift.” she said softly her voice seeming to trail off.
”Who there girl, don’t fall asleep on me, it’s dangerous with concussions. Let’s go see nurse Amelia, okay?”
By the time Katherine had woken up again she was laying in one of the bed’s on the Hospital wing. Nurse Amelia was standing above her a gentle smile on her face. ”There we are, had us worried for a moment there when you decided to take a little nap. Your head will be just fine, maybe just a small headache for a few hours. I gave your friend some medicine for if it really starts to bother you.” Amelia said before walking back to her office. Katherine looked at Jerry, feeling a little confused. ”How long have you been here…. And how did we get here?” she felt a little fuzzy on what had happened, but she vaguely remembered a Slytherin pretty much kicking her ass.

"I doubt people will stop harassing me just because I would pick a side," Jerry sighed, knowing that people didn't just dislike him because he was a Halfblood. There were other factors, but well, he was who he was and nothing would change that. "You know that my...ergh..." Jerry stumbled when he searched for a good enough word to use, so Katherine would know what was he talking about, but not really telling other people who might overhear them. While Jerry's sexuality wasn't a secret, he did not wish to put a banner up with rainbows and parade around with it. "...preferences are the main reason people can't stand me. Well, that and the fact that my mother is a Muggle." Jerry shook his head, wondering how could children, because let's face it, they were still children, could be so vicious and hurtful. Adults, the seventh year understood, because people were just a kind of animals, but innocent children? He blamed the parents for that, since it was obvious that the children had to learn such behavior from somewhere. "How about we make our own side, eh?" Jerry joked and tightened his grip on Kath's hips, so she would not fall in case of slipping on something. "Come to the Grey Side. We present each member with cookies and a cool membership badge!" the Gryffindor tried to lighten up the mood mostly for Katherine's sake. People's moods were a downer after getting bullied or if they were a part of a serious attack like Kath was. Jerry got angry again when he observed the nasty welt, but his face betrayed none of his thoughts, still a mask of light happiness with a small smile.
"Oooh, Kath, I think you're smart enough to think of that," Jerry smirked and winked at the girl next to him. He knew that it had to be a Gryffindor, and perhaps one of the older years. Past that, it escaped him, which is strange, especially since most people bragged about pranking Slytherin, especially Jerry. It was kind of weird, but not too odd that someone might kept such a grand prank all to himself. Or herself, because for all he knew, it might have been a girl. "I say we do something humiliating and very public. Like, make their clothes disappear to their undies in the Great Hall," Jerry chuckled and started to fire off ideas. "Oh, OH, or perhaps dye their hair and clothes red/gold in the class. Ooooor explode their cauldrons at Potions. McNabb would have a heart attack if that happened during his class," Jerry snorted, imagining the Slytherin head of house turning different colours before disappearing in an explosion of fireworks. It was a hilarious thought.
Jerry smiled when the topic of the conversation touched on friendship again. He was very lucky to have such a good friend like Katherine. It was rare for him. Not the friends part, that Jerry had a handful, but those really good and close ones. Plus, it didn't hurt that she was very beautiful as well. To be honest, he had thought about pursuing her in their sixth year, but Jerry felt someone like him didn't deserve someone like Katherine. He blushed when she gave him a kiss, though he tried to hide it. Gosh, he felt like a giddy schoolgirl after that and it was only on the cheek. He did wonder what would a real kiss be like. "Same here too luv. You're one of the most wonderful people I've had pleasure to meet and you're not getting rid of me that easily," Jerry poked her in the ribs. "So don't you dear disappear on me when we graduate, kay?"
"It's true. If there is something my mother has plenty, it's money and taste. Frightfully so," Jerry chuckled. His mother made tonnes of money by being a surgeon, and she had a knack to play dress up with him when he did visit her. So you won't look like a common beggar at that school of yours. she said. Jerry had his suspicions that she did so, so she could see how Jerry would look like a 'normal' person, someone who wasn't magical. But he indulged her, just so they could stay on good terms. "We don't talk much, my mother and I. After she and dad divorced, she left me with him and just disappeared. She remarried a Muggle you know. I feel like that he doesn't like me, but he didn't say anything to me so far. I can't wait to graduate, so I could get a house or a flat on my own," Jerry said wistfully, staring through a window they just had passed.
When they arrived in the Hospital Wing, Jerry sat in the nearby chair, while he watched Nurse Dupont closely as she worked on Katherine. He didn't stray too far from her side, worrying that something would happen if he were gone, like that the attacker might return. Nurse Dupont gave him some kind of medicine for Kath, promising to himself that he would watch the fellow Gryffindor like a hawk. "You were here a few hours and I stayed with you," Jerry coughed and looked away as if it wasn't a big deal. "After you blacked out on me two corridors before the Hospital Wing, I carried you the rest of the distance. You're light like a feather, so no worries," Jerry winked at Kath. "So, now that you will be officially discharged, you have your own personal nurse," he puffed his chest out and dangled the potion in front of Kath. "What do you want to do?" he asked and stepped closer to the bed, so he could help her up.

”I doubt people will stop harassing me just because I would pick a side. You know that my… ergh… preferences are the main reason people can’t stand me. Well, that and the face that my Mother is a muggle. How about we make our own side eh? Come to the Grey side. We present each member with cookies and a cool membership badge.”
Katherine frowned as she studied Jerry, she felt bad there wasn’t more she could do to help him, but after today she couldn’t even help herself so before when she was protecting her friends had she really accomplished anything? As he went to approach his preferences as he called them she nodded in understanding, she knew most half bloods were left alone, but he got picked on big time because he liked both boys and girls, which she personally didn’t see a problem with that, but others around the school certainly did and it disgusted her. ”You are perfect just the way you are Jer, never forget that.” she murmured softly shaking her head as she thought of the stupidity of some of the other kids. ”There is nothing wrong with your Mother being a muggle either, so what she doesn’t have magic in her blood, to be honest I think you have the best of both worlds.” she replied, she was trying to keep focussed on talking to him, though her head was really starting to bother her. ”Can’t we come up with a more creative name for it?” she teased. ”The Grey Side just sounds so plain!” she chuckled lightly but she felt the headache growing worse and she moaned softly, why couldn’t the pain in her head just go away, it certainly wasn’t convenient. ”I wouldn’t mind a cookie right now truthfully, it sounds really yummy!” she added.
”Oooh, Kath, I think you’re smart enough to think of that. I say we do something humiliating and very public. Like, make their clothes disappear to their undies in the Great Hall, Oh, OH, or perhaps dye their hair and clothes red/gold in the class. Ooooor explode their cauldrons at Potions. NcNabb would have a heart attack if that happened during his class.”
Katherine shrugged, okay so maybe she had been the one to do it, and yes she kept it on the down low, mostly because she had people worshipping that perfect prank and the Head Master was on a hunt for whoever had done it, she didn’t even want to imagine what they would do once they caught her so she kept her mouth shut more or less for her own safety. ”Even if I did… keep quiet about it. Head Master is looking for who did it and he is livid. You have heard about his punishment techniques…” she whispered. She listened to his ideas for pay back, a smirk on her lips. ”Sometimes you make me think you are an amateur.” she said with a laugh but looking up at him she smiled ”Let me get over this head wound and I will blow your socks off with some ideas… I still have some purchases from the Weasley’s shop.” she smiled devilishly.
”Same here too luv. You’re one of the most wonderful people I’ve had pleasure to meet and you’re not getting rid of me that easily. So don’t you dare disappear on me when we graduate, kay?”
Katherine looked up at his face, trying to keep focused on it. Things were going in an out of focus and she sure as hell didn’t like the feeling. She felt like things were floating, she felt as though she were floating and the feeling made her stomach churn. ”Jerry I don’t feel right.” she murmured before things went black.
”You were here a few hours and I stayed with you, After you blacked out on me two corridors before the hospital wing, I carried you the rest of the distance. You’re light as a feather so no worries, So now that you will be officially discharged you have your own personal nurse. What do you want to do?”
Katherine smiled as she listened to Jerry ramble on, it calmed her slightly. ”You didn’t have to stick around you know.” she replied feeling a little bad that he had stayed to look out for her. She looked around the room, thankfully the Hospital Wing wasn’t too busy today so no one would be asking about her being there, then again people could have easily seen Jerry carrying her there which was maybe a little more embarrassing. ”Did anyone see me passed out?” she asked cautiously. Blushing she waved him closer, as if she were going to tell him a secret, when he was close enough she pressed her lips to his for just a moment then pulled away a small smile on her lips and her cheeks bright pink. ”Thanks for helping me.”
