Character: Ginevra Weasley
RP Experience: 10+ Years
Have you ever played this canon before?: Yes - it's been a year or two, which means I'm probably a bit rusty. ^^
Roleplay Example:
It had been a week since they had returned from the Christmas holidays to find Luna no longer at Hogwarts. They had convened one Dumbledore’s Army meeting since their return to speak about matters and sadly, not even her or Neville had been able to hide the dismal feelings that seemed to be shared by all within the castle. As more time passed, hopes began to fall steadily. She found it hard to even rouse excitement out of the members of DA – most likely because she found it incredibly hard for herself to get excited about anything anymore.
It seemed like any ounce of information that they gained was quickly countered by rumors or talk of something even more horrific. It was always one step forward and two steps back. She found herself religiously reading the papers, writing owls to her parents, and attempting to stay in the loop. She wasn’t a child anymore, even though her mother urged her to stay out of the mess entirely. How could she sit around and do nothing? Her closest friends were out there trying to save the entire Wizarding World from destruction and chaos. The least she could do was keep DA together. They would be ready when the second war finally emerged. It was the only way she could help them. The only way she could think of to help Harry in this long, hard-fought battle against the darkest wizard of all time was to make sure that they were ready to back him up and fight alongside him when the time came.
She and Neville had been working tirelessly to keep the DA meetings consistent. She’d suffered many detentions since the start of her sixth year at Hogwarts. She accepted her punishments in pride. There was no way they would stop or shut down DA. She wouldn’t allow it. It was the only way that she could help Harry and rest of the Order ultimately win this battle.
As she made her way through the corridors of the castle, her mind was clouded. It was always clouded with hundreds of complex thoughts nowadays. It was getting late, close to curfew. She walked alone, making her way back from the library where she had been doing some research. Standing off the side a ways ahead of her were two boys – Slytherins she saw after inspection – that appeared to be smirking and laughing about something. As she came closer, she overhead a jumble of words about Harry Potter being a coward. “My father said it’s likely he up and fled the country. Knows he doesn’t stand a chance against You-Know-Who.” As soon as the couple saw Ginny, they quieted, but did not avert their gazes. Snape was the Headmaster, after all.
Ginny had always been a bit hot-headed and quick to temper, but lately the smallest of things was able to set her off. There was no way she was letting these two get off spreading such stories. Walking up to them, she gave them quite a bit of her mind. “Harry has not fled the country!” Her voice was quite raised, syllables rising with each word that flew from her mouth. “Tell your father that he should be afraid. Harry is preparing to defeat You-Know-Who. Then you’ll all be sorry!” Ginny finished her thoughts with a bit of a screech, ready to continue her attack on the pathetic younger boys who had merely been spitting out their fathers’ words.
Before she was able to launch into them a second time, she felt herself being pulled away from the boys, off towards the end of the corridor by a familiar set of hands. Neville. Thank goodness. He was keeping her from yet another detention over something silly. He guided her around the corner before he stopped, allowing Ginny to compose herself. Shaking her head, she took a few deep breaths before she let her eyes meet his. “Thank you, Neville.” She paused, looking down at her hands for a moment. “I haven’t the slightest clue what’s gotten into me. I just hate hearing people say things about Harry, Hermione, and Ron.” Shrugging slightly, she continued. “I’m not going to stand by and let people say things that aren’t true. Harry is going to defeat You-Know-Who. You know it as well as I do.” She finished matter-of-factly, waiting for Neville to agree with her. Thankfully, the two of them had each other. They used to have Luna, but since she hadn’t returned, Neville was all she had to keep her slightly sane.
