Keep an eye out for the secret phrase. It is spread through the posts. All capital letters for every word. <3 Good luck.
GENERAL RULES 001. Nothing over PG-13 here guys. This is just something that we don't need here at Avada Kedavra. We want it to be something your little sister or brother could read if they ever found the site. You wouldn't want them to go to your mom and ask what this or that means. So just to keep it safe, let's keep it appropriate.
002. Please refrain from fighting on the boards. The staff try to keep the peace as best as we can. If you have a problem with another member, send a PM to the counselor. If you do not get a reply back within two days, please make sure you send it to the administrator account as well. But please send it to our site counselor to give us a chance to sort it out fairly. The counselor is used to help the staff keep it straight from the other problems we have on our site.
003. When you are creating your character's username, you can use whatever you please. Just make sure that after it is created that you immediately change it to your character's first and last name in all caps. Please do not put their middle name, it makes it too long.
004. Your account should have a signature (at very least) of your character. It is nice to be able to see your character. If you can add a avatar too, that would be even better. Please refrain from adding links to other sites in your signature. If you have a site, please put it in our advertising board. Addition as of 12/15 please make sure your signatures are no wider than 450 pixels and no taller than 400 pixels.
005. Please refrain from discussing extremely diplomatic things on the site. It can lead to huge arguments and sometimes even the end of a site. If you post anything dealing with Religion, Politics, or extremely serious topics that can lead to an argument, even remotely, your post will be deleted and you will receive a warning. You can only get three of these before your account will be deleted and you banned.
006. Stealing from Avada Kedarva is strictly against our rules. Should anyone report that you have stolen a character, graphic, or any other original piece of work from the people here, you will be reported to the owners of the site you have taken the stolen goods from, you will be removed from our site, and banned. There will be no warnings.
007. After joining the site, you will be given two days to post an application and an additional four to complete it. Giving you six days in all. If you have not done this by the end of the sixth day, your account will be deleted and your application moved to the archives. If you come back and decide you want to finish your character, you will need to copy and paste any information to your new biography or start a new character.
008. If you are going to be gone after you have joined the site and have not completed your application, feel free to post in the going away board and inform the staff that you will be leaving. We will lock your thread and refrain from moving it until three days after you are scheduled to come back. If you do not know when you will be back, you will be given a time period of one month to finish it. If it is not completed by then, it will be deleted.
009. Canons and claims will be given in a first come first serve. If you post a reserve in the canon, you will be able to save that character until the date listed in the reserve. If (THE) you have not posted an application by that day, your reserve will be removed. If you have not completed the application in an additional three days, your application will be placed into the archives and your account deleted.
010. The staff does not appreciate being haggled about accepting your character. If you bug us about your character being accepted, we reserve the right to wait to accept your character until we see fit. If you cannot wait or haggle us too far, the staff will give you a warning and you will be expected to wait three days without a word of your character being accepted. We appreciate your patience.
011. If your application is marked as pending, you will need to fix your application within three days. If the application is not fixed by the end of the seventy-two hour period, your application will be moved to the archives. This does not apply if you have informed us that you will be on leave.

CREATION RULES 001. When creating your application, in order to help us keep track of your application and make it look pretty, please post it with the title as directed below. This is a rule, and therefore if not done, we reserve the right to list your application as pending. Format : First Middle Last.
002. When choosing a face claim, please (COWARD) use only people who are considered celebrities by any standard. For instance, please use only Actors/Actresses, Musicians, and Models. Using someone from a social networking site (Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, ETC) or any other internet source, is strictly forbidden. You are also not allowed to use your own personal photo.
003. When creating a character, their name should not be associated with a canon's name. This means any variation of Potter, Weasley, Granger, and any other canons included. The canons that are listed on the site are the only canons that will be allowed on the site. If you have an idea for a canon, it must be approved by every member of the site. If it is not, then your application will be marked as pending.
004. Family relationships to a canon with an original character are not permitted. We will not be accepting any long lost Potter twins or secret step cousins of the Weasley's seven times removed. The books were not written with these characters, and so neither with we.
005. Pure bloods. We all love them and love to have one, but we will only be accepting one original pure blood character per member. This permits everyone to have the opportunity to have their own original death eater or pure blood character. The only way you can have more than one pure blood character is if you create a canon character with a pure blood status. Pure blood canons will be limited at two per character.
006. Keep in mind when you are making a character, that if you are going to make more than one canon that they do not interact a whole heck of a lot. For instance, we are not going to let someone take Harry and then choose two more canons of their own to accompany him in his travels.
007. Personalities are made with flaws. Everyone has them, and everyone should. We don't want Mary Sues or Gary Stus on our site. If your character is accused of being a Mary Sue or a Gary Stu, we will inform you of what we feel needs to be changed about your character. Should you decide to argue back, you need to be able to explain how they aren't and if we feel that was not expressed well enough in your application, you will be expected to edit your application.
008. When creating a characters personality and history, please make sure that everything lines up. For instance, if your character had a hard history but is generally a happy go lucky person, that probably isn't too realistic. While we don't want them to be completely mopey, we want characters to be original and have their flaws. This also goes for characters that hate the world. They need to have a reason to hate the world, and even then, they are going to have some soft sides.
009. Histories, when writing them, may not seem too exciting. But we require that they are made to give us a little insight on the character and why they are what they are. If you can give us a little bit of an explanation in your history about how your character felt during major events in their life, it will help with how realistic your character is. Please keep in mind that not every character has a mopey history and not every character's history is flawless either.
010. Please refrain from including any canons in the history of your character unless you are creating a canon. We do not want original characters to have an automatic tie with a canon just because they were "best friends before they went to Hogwarts". It just isn't practical.
011. When creating a character with special abilities, we do require that you follow certain guidelines. These guidelines can be found here. If we feel that you do not have the proper know-how on how to deal with the special abilities and other creatures of this site, we will not be allowing you to create this character and they will be denied. You will be expected to start over.
012. There is a limit of four special abilities per member. Not per character. Meaning if you have four characters, you are allowed to give each of them one ability. If you have five characters, one will go without. You are not allowed to have one character and give them all four powers. The limit per character is two.
013. With a special ability you need to be able to explain where they got it, why they have it, when they got it, who they got it from and/or how they got it. If this is not done in extent in your biography, we will place your character as pending and expect you to fix your biography.
014. When creating your character, please include their first sign of magic. This is a vital part of the wizard world and can cause your application to be listed as pending.

CHATBOX RULES 001. Advertising on the chat box is forbidden. We have a board for this and expect it to be used. This also includes when you are from another site and posting in it to inform us about an affiliation or an advertisement or whatever.
002. Keep the rating in the chat box PG. We may be rated PG-13 on the site, but we expect the chat box to be a place where both members and guests can come, and it can be very unappealing to a guest to come on a site and find it littered with inappropriate messages.
003. Using chat speak in the chat box is not permitted. The basic chat speak though, is. Things such as 'Lol', 'Brb', 'Gtg', 'Ttyl' and a few other phrases are allowed, but please refrain from posting something that could be very hard for someone to interpret.
004. Fighting in the chat box is prohibited. If you are found fighting, you will receive a message and a warning. Our chat box is highly monitored and we check it constantly. If you are found fighting too often or more than three times, you will be banned from the chat box and could potentially be band from the site as well.
005. Please avoid diplomatic conversations. It can result in very troubling debates and arguments which can become very hard for the staff to handle. If a massive fight breaks out, the staff will take to banning all the members and sending out a mass PM. The chat box would be down for a day and then put back up. Any further signs of fighting or if this happens more than three times, the chat box will be removed as a consequence.
006. Role-playing is not permitted in the chat box. We have an ICC box for a reason. If you decide that you need to role-play, do it there or take it to the site. It is a lot easier to try and have a conversation without having someone role-playing with their character. We do allow messages that interpret actions, such as -sit-, -hugs- , -glomps- and messages like it, so long as they are intended actions for you and not your character.
007. Please refrain from talking about relationships with a character or how your character feels in the chat box. It can potentially get annoying when someone is sitting there and are going "This character hates that character and they want to kill them" or something stupid like that. If you are told to stop (WHO) talking about it, you will be expected to stop immediately.

ICC CHATBOX RULES 001. The ICC is strictly for role-play. We expect you use it for that. All role-playing rules pertain on the in character chat box as they do on the site. Please keep it that way.
002. Please refrain from posting Out of Character in the In Character chat box.
003. If you are going to discuss what happened in the ICC, please take it to PM. People who are not involved may find themselves bored and quite un-entertained with the conversation.
004. If you are going to post in the ICC, realize that it may become hard to do with long messages. So keep it short if you (RAN) can. Simple, short actions that are distinguished with -'s or *'s and speaking words.

ROLEPLAY RULES 001. When it comes to the site, we require that you have at least two hundred words. It may not be very much for some people, but we like to keep the site available for the people on the site who are just starting out.
002. If you decide to use a posting table, please refrain from stretching the board. Doing so will result in the table being removed from your post and a warning sent to your account. It is not attractive when the site is stretched out beyond reasonable limits.
003. No god-modding or power-playing. This means you can not control another persons character or be completely invincible in a fight or a duel. This is vital to the site and makes it hard for anyone to have a reasonable role-play. If you are reported for god-modding or power-playing, you will receive a warning and be expected to change your post.
004. When role-playing, you may find the use of NPCs or Non-Player characters to be necessary. This basically means that any character that is part of your post but not actually a one of your characters. You can use them for whatever purpose you may need, but they should only be used in that one thread. Canons that are not created but are needed for a plot will be roleplayed by a staff member until they have been created.
