Mortui Viventes The Living Dead
12/21/12, the day the plague brought America to its knees.
The plague, at first, hadn't quite seemed like a big deal. Only a few isolated cases in early January, 2012 in the rural areas spoke of the rising dead. Often, they were dismissed as small rumors that had grown into quite the tall tales. None were investigated, and life continued on as normal for several months. Life continued on peacefully. Until the rising dead grew more frequent.
More and more humans began to succumb to this mysterious "disease," and it quickly drew the attention of authorities. In late May, work on a vaccine began. It took several months, but many people grew complacent, and felt secure in the idea that their government would take care of it. (Some more radical individuals had already hit the hills when word of the dead coming back to life drew the attention of the government.) November soon came, and people flocked to receive the vaccination that would supposedly keep them from being infected. It didn't take a psychic to know it wouldn't work.
One by one, cities both domestic and international fell. The falls of Mumbai, Shanghai, Cairo, Athens, and Istanbul were some of the last news reported outside of the U.S. At home, the American military worked valiantly to protect the cities, but were overwhelmed in a matter of weeks. San Diego, Atlanta, Baton Rouge, and then finally St. Paul. Now, nowhere is safe, and society has disintegrated. And it is up to the ordinary citizens to decide if the world will stay that way.
